Bonsai is a difficult hobby to learn on your own. Horticulturally, bonsai need specialized care that differs from most other potted plants. Artistically, they come from an (at least) 1,400 year-old heritage. No one can know it all. No one can be an expert at every species, every established style. Books can only take you so far. Whether you're looking for long-term help to increase your bonsai skills or just want to attend a single meeting for a bit of advice, Four Season Bonsai Club is here to help. (But if you do decide to join the club, it's the best way to learn.) We have several members that are experts in different aspects of bonsai, different species and each is willing to share their advice. We are committed to being beginner-friendly but still delve into expert techniques. Each month's program is unique; a presentation, demonstration or hands-on workshop setup by club volunteers. There really is something for everyone.
If you'd like to attend one of our meetings, check our schedule page and our latest newsletter for more information on the next program, date & time, etc. We meet at Telly's Greenhouse in Troy, and we're very grateful for their support. (Telly's is also a great place to buy bonsai.)
We encourage guests at our meetings, so if you're unsure about joining the club, don't let that keep you away. Drop by one of our meetings and see what club membership is all about. Hope to see you there!

President
Congratulations to club member Robert Bishop on the founding of the new Toledo Bonsai Club! TBS meets on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 1-3 pm at BenSell Greenhouse. (5720 Dorr St., Toledo, Ohio 43606.) TBS fills a much-needed role in the local bonsai community and is having great success signing up members. They plan to take many field trip carpools to Ann Arbor and Four Seasons events. TBS hopes to have a website up and running soon.
Our 2010 annual show is scheduled for the weekend of June 19-20. The show is free, open to the public and is the Metro Detroit bonsai event. Don't miss it. Mark your calendars. Click the banner to the above right for full details about the show. (We're in the process of finalizing some aspects, so the information shown may be tentative.)
Todd Renshaw and guest bonsai master Roy Nagatoshi were on the WJBK Fox 2 morning program to promote the annual show last June. If you missed it, follow this link and click on the video:
