Four Seasons Bonsai Club meetings are usually held on the last Sunday of the month at 2:00 p.m. (Any exceptions are noted below.) Guests are welcome! Members and guests, please bring your bonsai to meetings; whether you have questions, problems or just want to show them off.
Jan. 27, 2 p.m.
Video Presentation. We’ll watch the DVD The Magic of Ginkgo. Plus a presentation on suiseki (viewing stones) by Bob Rende and Jerry Peters.
Feb. 24, 2 p.m.
Penjing Demonstration. Robert Bishop shows us how to create these miniature landscapes from the Chinese tradition.
March 30, 2 p.m.
"Bonsai circus." (Simultaneous workshops and demos on all sorts of subjects). This program includes beginner basics, but always has eye-opening demos for experienced members too.
April 27, 2 p.m.
Bring-Your-Own-Tree Workshop. April is a great time to work on your bonsai. Bring a raw tree or an established bonsai that needs work. The Four Seasons experts will help you get on the right track.
May 18*, 2 p.m.
Bill Struhar’s “Two-Step Tree Tricks.” Bill shows us his techniques for severe work on tropical bonsai.
June 21*-22*, all weekend long.
ANNUAL SHOW. Our once-a-year, not-to-be-missed event! Featuring a tree-styling demonstration and two workshops with guest Bonsai Master, Roy Nagatoshi from California. The show includes beginner-friendly demonstrations on bonsai styling and care by past-president, Jimmy Whiteley. Don't miss our exhibit of bonsai owned by club members, the raffle of the Nagatoshi demo tree (plus other raffles), as well as bonsai, tools, pots and supplies for sale. July 27, 2 p.m.
Beginner’s Workshop. A follow-up to Jimmy Whiteley’s demonstration for beginners at the Annual Show.
Aug. 24*, time T.B.D.
Bonsai auction and pot luck dinner. Held at the home of a Four Seasons member. (See the August newsletter for location and start time.) A great opportunity to acquire everything from high-quality bonsai to low-cost bonsai, pots and tools.
Aug. 30*-31, time T.B.D.
Pedro Morales Demonstration and Workshop. (See the August newsletter for start times.) Guest Master Pedro Morales from Puerto Rico will style a tropical tree on Saturday and lead a workshop on Sunday.
Sept. 28, 2 p.m.
Ikebana Presentation. (The Japanese art of flower arrangement.)
Oct. 26, 2 p.m.
Bonsai Deadwood Carving Demonstration with Jimmy Whiteley and Hector DeBrabant. Plus a discussion on getting your trees ready for winter.
Nov. 23*, 2 p.m.
Tropical Three-of-a-Kind Demo. Three club members, each with raw, nearly identical stock trees, style them into three unique bonsai, side-by-side.
Dec. 7*, 2 p.m.
Christmas Party. Restaurant T.B.D. (See the November newsletter for location.) Join us for plenty of good food and good conversation.
